Professor Modgil is an internationally recognised leader in surgical andrology, with particular expertise in penile prosthesis surgery, Peyronie’s disease, and complex genital reconstruction. He is the highest-volume infrapubic penile implant surgeon in the UK and a global mentor in this technique.
He provides the highest-volume NHS andrology service in the North West of England, working across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and the Northern Care Alliance. He leads the regional male factor infertility service at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester, where he introduced microsurgical techniques and established a multi-site specialist MDT. He also founded the regional joint urology-andrology and plastic surgery MDT and specialist service for genital hidradenitis suppurativa.
His clinical practice spans tertiary referrals for erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, infertility, hypogonadism, ejaculatory disorders, and complex peno-scrotal reconstruction, with a particular interest in sexual dysfunction in men following prostate cancer treatment.
A prominent academic and collaborator, Professor Modgil is the founder of MARC and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications with a strong international research footprint. He has contributed to global guideline development (EAU Male Sexual & Reproductive Health), and serves on multiple national and international committees, including BAUS, the AUA International Research Network, and The Urology Foundation Scientific Committee.
He is deeply committed to education and training, acting as an FRCS(Urol) examiner and question writer, and mentoring surgeons across the UK and internationally in advanced andrological surgery.
Trained in Southampton, Manchester, and Birmingham, he holds an MSc (Leadership for Health Service Improvement, with merit) and completed fellowships in Perth (Australia) and at UCLH Institute of Andrology, alongside specialist training in high-volume erectile dysfunction surgery in the USA.
A high-impact clinical leader, educator, and researcher, Professor Modgil is at the forefront of advancing modern andrology on an international stage.
